It's a Three-Game Season ... or Something

Okay, folks, we're moving on. Jags coming to Heinz Field Sunday, Marcus Stroud won't play, and the Steelers have released Marvin Philip and signed Marquis Cooper, allegedly for special teams purposes.

I guess there should be some intrigue to the fact that Cooper was recently released by the Jags, but two things: first, I think these teams know each other well enough that Pittsburgh doesn't need to resort to signing third-string linebackers and grilling them for info, particularly guys who previously played for the Steelers. Second, anything -- perceived or otherwise -- that will help the special teams ... well, I'm all for it.

Marvin Philip was activated to the 53-man roster because another team was interested in signing him -- same story last year -- but if he's no better than Sean Mahan, then I won't lose much sleep over him collecting a paycheck elsewhere. Or, more likely, collecting his paycheck on the practice squad.
