Just the way to get the season off on the right foot...
The Providence Journal (free registration) has a scathing editorial about new Red Sox manager, Terry Francona. The article is written by former Journal writer and current Philly sports talk show host, Angelo Cataldi (I think he's of Italian heritage). My favorite paragraph:
"What exactly appealed to Boston general manager Theo Epstein and the rest of the baseball geniuses running the Red Sox? Could it have been Francona's 285-363 record managing an underachieving Phillies team that collapsed at the end of every season? Could it have been the fact that the Phillies improved by 19 games in the first season under Larry Bowa after Francona had left? Or maybe it was the brilliant job Francona did in overseeing the only failure in the athletic career of Michael Jordan."
This piece is full of hyperbole, but I think that's what makes it so entertaining to read. Another positive start to the baseball season!
