Big Ben Loves Getting Sacked
As usual, I'm late to the party, but this time I have a solid excuse: just got back from grocery shopping with the 11 month old. Nothing like spending an hour with a building full of geriatrics while trying to keep your kid from jumping out of the cart. Good times.
Anyway, swell news on Big Ben. Now the Steelers don't have to worry about another quarterback for eight years or so, and by the time Roethlisberger's next deal is up, this'll seem like a bargain. (Odds he makes it eight more seasons in the NFL? 100-1; Odds he retires after setting the NFL record for sacks in a career if he does play out his new contract? 1-1,000.)
Eric mentioned in the previous comments that Mewelde Moore could be Pittsburgh's return dude, which pretty much puts the finishing touches on Willie Reid's splendid career. Just guessing here, but maybe Tomlin and his peeps consider Reid a Cowher guy, kinda like Colclough, and aren't interested in letting him learn on the job.
In completely unrelated news, any reactions to the Browns positioning themselves for a nice little playoff run next season? They've certainly improved on paper, but every year this happens. I'll wait until they actually start playing games before I get too worked up about it.
