Good news, bad news
DraftSteel.com follows close to 40 mock drafts -- and lists who these mocks think the Steelers will take with the 11th overall pick. Four positions are represented (CB, QB, OT, TE) which probably means: (a) the Steelers have a lot of holes to fill and (b) no one has any idea what they plan to do. Either way, in the table below I listed the percentage of mock draft sites that thought the Steelers would select a particular player ('# of mock sites' is the actual number of sites that picked this player and '% of total' is what percentage of the total number of mock sites each player accounted for).
Player, position # of mock sites: % of total
D. Hall, CB 10 27.0%
D. Robinson, CB 6 16.2%
C. Gamble, CB 1 2.7%
P. Rivers, QB 12 32.4%
B. Roethlisberger, QB 4 10.8%
S. Andrews, OT 3 8.1%
K. Winslow, TE 1 2.7%
The good news (if you think the Steelers shouldn't take a QB named Rivers in the first round) is that 46% of the mock draft sites think the Steelers will take a CB (combination of Hall, Robinson or Gamble). The bad news is that 43% of the sites think the Steelers will take a QB (either Rivers or Roethlisberger) -- but 11% of the 43% is made up of mocks who think that Roethlisberger will be around at 11 (personally, I think he'll be gone, but if he's there, the Steelers should probably take him). Going from the bad to the insane, one site (Dennis Dodd of CBSSportline) has the Steelers taking TE Kellen Winslow -- and if that happens I may quit watching the Steelers all together.
